Veerappan's wife Mutthulakshmi to narrate her hubby's tale on celluloid

Movies on forest brigand Veerappan have been made in Kannada and Tamil. But now, for the first time, the sandalwood smuggler's widow Mutthulakshmi is all set to reveal the 'real version' of Veerappan on the big screen.

Popular Kannada actress Pooja Gandhi, who has also acted in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies, will reprise the role of Mutthulakshmi in the movie titled by the same name. The movie will be shot from later this month.

Apparently, Mutthulakshmi had penned her life story and she was looking for a suitable film-maker to narrate it on the big screen. Last year, a trilingual movie based on Veerappan's life 'Attahasa' was released, but Mutthulakshmi had objected to it, contending that the movie did not stick to facts. She had even dragged the film-maker to the court.

"Pooja Gandhi's team listened to my story. She has agreed to bring it out as it is on the big screen. I have faith in her. She is the perfect actress to represent my story in a movie. I will be actively involved in the making of the movie," Mutthulakshmi said.

After marrying Veerappan, Mutthulakshmi had stayed with him in the forests. The police had booked cases against her for some of the crimes committed by Veerappan. Following a long legal battle, she had been acquitted in most of the cases. Mutthulakshmi, now a mother of two, lives in Salem, Tamil Nadu.

One of the top film stars of south India, Pooja Gandhi has acted in more than 30 movies. She even had an unsuccessful stint in politics after losing the Assembly polls in Karnataka last year. The actress had won several awards for the portrayal of a negative character in Kannada-Telugu movie 'Dandupalya' (based on real life incidents involving the Dandupalya gang).

Asha Sarath, though rose to fame with her role in one of the seriels aired on Asianet, the actress is now busy with offers pouring on her in movies. After the success of Drishyam, she had been cast for the Kannada remake of the same film to essay the same role as the police officer.

She has now completed the shooting of the film but, says that Kannada was quite tough for her. Asha Sarath says that she has never dreamt of coming back into the industry even in her rarest dreams. But, now she is happy that she is active in the industry and that too performing good roles.
 A dancer by profession, Asha says that she was never confident in doing her role in Drishyam. But, the true support from the cast and crew of the film has helped her in giving such an outstanding performance in the movie.

After Drishyam, the actress is now getting many good offers from the industry and she says that she might do a Tamil movie too. Currently, she is more excited about her role in the upcoming movie Angels, in which she plays a journalist.

 She says, "I play a TV journalist called Sajitha Menon, who runs a popular programme of the reality show genre. She is considered an icon in the industry and is renowned for taking strong decisions and admirable stands. At the same time, she is an independent and happy woman in personal life. Indrajith plays the lead. I am quite excited about my role." Though Asha Sarath is becoming a busy bee in the industry, she is not ready to put aside her dance. She says that dance is always her first priority than films. She says that she wants to be in films, without it affecting her loving family and also her passionate dance.

'Kochadaiyaan' to be released in six languages

Chennai: For the first time in the history of Indian Cinema, the much-awaited period film "Kochadaiyaan" featuring Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone in the lead, would be released in six different languages.

The movie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Marathi, a release here said.

The film would be sent to the Censor Board during the third week of this month and it is scheduled to be released during the summer season, it said.

This is the first time in Indian Cinema history that a movie is getting released in six Indian languages,it said.

Meanwhile, Karbonn Mobiles, one of the movie's sponsors, is planning to undertake a massive marketing campaign for the film. Hoardings and banners of the movie will be displayed at 3,650 Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd petrol outlets in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

"In Chennai alone, over 100 hoardings are planned to be set up", it said.

The audio and trailer of the movie would be released at a function in Chennai on March 9 in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. A new model of Karbonn Mobiles would also be launched on that day, it said.

Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment, are the producers of the movie, which is directed by Rajinikanth's daughter, Soundarya R Ashwin. The music is scored by double Oscar winner A R Rahman and sound recording by another Oscar winner Resul Pookutty.

The movie also has actor-politician R Sarathkumar, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, Tamil actors Adhi, Nasser, actress and danseuse Shobhana, the release added.
