Mumbai: Dancing diva Madhuri Dixit has hit the benchmark of three million followers on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The 47-year-old actress, an avid user of social media, is looking forward to increase her fan base online. "Just hit 3 million followers on Twitter! Thanks for all the love and support!! Looking forward to more good times with all of you," Madhuri, who joined Twitter in 2010, posted.
The 'Dhak Dhak' girl keeps her admirers entertained by frequently tweeting about her personal and professional life. Madhuri is currently busy preparing her act for reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7' finale.
"Been practising for the Jhalak finale! Pushing the limits hard... Hope you like it!,' she tweeted.
Mumbai: The news of National Award-winning child actress Shweta Basu Prasad's arrest for her involvement in a prostitution racket came as a shock to many. The 23-year-old, who is known for her roles in films like Makdee and Iqbal, released a statement soon after she was caught by cops, saying, "I have made wrong choices in my career, and I was out of money. "
"I had to support my family and some other good causes," said Prasad in her statement. "All the doors were closed, and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless, and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act. I'm not the only one who faced this problem, and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase."
Born to a Bengali mother and Bihari father in Jamshedpur, Prasad moved to Mumbai at the age of four. When she turned 11, she got her first break in Bollywood alongside Shabana Azmi in Makdee (2002). In this Vishal Bharadwaj film, she played the dual roles as Chunni and Munni and bagged the the National Film Award for Best Child Artist that year.
After Makdee, Prasad had offers from both television and films producers and she began working on several soaps (mostly produced by Ekta Kapoor). She continued to study at RN Podar High School, Santa Cruz, Mumbai. Prasad is a Jane Austen fan and loves Aamir Khan.
During an interview in 2008, the actress had remarked that had she not been an actress, she would have become a lawyer. "I am very good at arguing." said Prasad. "I have respect for Indian Constitution and Judiciary."
Prasad quickly became a household face, with performance as Shruti, (Om and Parvati's daughter) in the Star Plus soap Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki becoming very popular.
The high point of her acting career came in 2005 with Nagesh Kukunoor's Iqbal. Prasad played the role of Iqbal's sister, Khadija, which fetched her the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Karachi International Film Festival.
Post Iqbal, Prasad failed to launch a Bollywood career as a leading actress. Although she starred in Ram Gopal Varma's Darna Zaroori Hai as Ashu, it brought her little success. She then ventured into regional cinema and got her first commercial success with Telegu film Kotha Bangaru Lokam, co-starring Varun Sandesh.
She also tried her luck in Bengali cinema with Ek Nadir Galpo (Tale of A River), but the film didn't do well. The actress has since featured in a number of low budget Telegu films and also tried her luck in Tamil cinema. None of these paths worked out too well for her, which is perhaps that led to the financial crisis that Prasad refers to in her statement to the police.
On last Sunday night, Prasad was arrested when the Hyderabad Police conducted a raid on a hotel.

The release of the first poster of Dirty Politics, showing protagonist Mallika Sherawat wrapped in the tricolour and sitting atop a car with a beacon, has kicked up a row, but director K C Bokadia is unperturbed. He says that he will not buckle under pressure and change it.
"Some political party from Rajasthan is planning to file a case against me and I got to know about it yesterday when my lawyer briefed me about it," Bokadia, knwon for producing hits like Pyaar Jhukta Nahin and Janta Ki Adalat, told IANS.
"Our poster has nothing to do with any party and if someone forcibly wants to link his party with our film, then it's not acceptable. The party is claiming that the Congress flag is similar to the one in the poster. In the Congress flag, there is a hand in it and in our flag there is nothing as such. If at all the colour looks similar, it was not intentional at all," he added.
Helmed by Bokadia, the film is based on the Bhanwari Devi sex scandal, and the cast features some of the best actors from Hindi films - Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Rana and Rajpal Yadav.
"People are targeting our film because they don't want us to release the film. There should be a valid reason to change the poster. I am not going to change the poster of my film under any pressure. There should be a solid convincing reason to change it," said Bokadia.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ruled the red carpet this year at the Cannes International Film Festival in all looks and impressed everyone. She left the city in even more glamorous avatar. Adding to her stunning appearance was her two and a half year old daughter Aaradhya Bachchan who walked with her mom.
The Miss Universe was spotted alongside her mother Brinda Rai and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan at the Nice Airport. The actress looked a stellar show in a deep neck dress paired with black leggings and an overcoat. She completed the look with yellow Gucci bag.
The yummy mummy lost all the weight she was criticised for last year at the Cannes and dropped jaws this year in five of the best looks she has carried pretty well.
Aaradhya looked a cute sight in floral top, light blue denims and pink shoes as she held her mom's hand throughout.
Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has slammed claims that he had made anti-Narendra Modi comments on Twitter.
There was a buzz in the social media that the 48-year-old actor had apparently tweeted that he will leave India if Modi becomes Prime Minister, a claim that Shah Rukh denied.
The actor took to Twitter to clear the confusion.
"Good time to tell all fools who are talking of a tweet that I didn't tweet, you suck as much as the grammar of that fake tweet & I'm being kind," he posted on Monday.
In fact, on May 16 SRK tweeted, "What a solid mandate given by the people. It proves again that the only constant is change. Now to move forward with strong and active faith, India."
The confusion arose when TV actor Kamaal R Khan, who uses shortened version of his name KRK on Twitter, boasted that he was leaving India following Modi's electoral win.
"So I am leaving India forever as I promised. I don't know if SRK and others will keep their promise but I will keep," Kamaal, a former 'Bigg Boss' contestant, had posted.
Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh, who will be seen along side Anushka Sharma in upcoming film 'Dil Dhadakne Do', says he shares a special bond with the actress and is looking forward to work with her.
Ranveer, 28, and Anushka first appeared together in 'Band Baaja Baarat', which turned out to be a successful film. They were later seen together in 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'.
Now, director Zoya Akhtar has managed to cast Ranveer and Anushka in 'Dil Dhadakne Do'.
"Yes... we are in touch with each other. We share a very healthy and professional relationship. I believe Anushka is one of the best young actors in our country. She is incredibly talented and we work well together. I share special chemistry with her. I am excited to work with her again as it has been a long gap since we worked together," Ranveer told PTI.
'Dil Dhadakne Do' will see Ranveer and Anushka as a couple, while Ranveer and Priyanka Chopra will play siblings.
It also features Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah. Apparently, the film revolves around a Punjabi family on a cruise trip. It is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment and scheduled to release next year in June.
"I was waiting for the next opportunity where I will get to work with her (Anushka) again as we worked well together in our previous films. She hasn't been part of prep process as she got back from shooting of 'NH 10'," he said.
Anushka is turning producer with 'NH 10', an upcoming thriller film directed by Navdeep Singh of 'Manorama Six Feet Under' fame. The film is co-produced by Phantom Films and is scheduled to release in September this year.
"I am very proud of the fact that she is the youngest producer in Hindi film industry. I know little about 'NH 10', I know it is going to be a fantastic film," Ranveer said.
Besides films, Ranveer has been in news for a condom ad he did recently as normally mainstream actors shy away from endorsing such brands.
"I am unconventional so it comes naturally to me. I am not trying to be out of the box or unconventional, it is the way I am. Lot of people told me Durex campaign was a bold thing. I don't think it was a bold move, it came naturally to me. I was comfortable doing it and I did not have any issue with it," he said.
"The first thing my family told me is we hope you know what you are getting into. I knew it was a big risk, I did not know how people would react. But I went with my conviction. The ad has that kind of impact as I am bringing to light what people already know or exist," he said.
"People don't think about it (sex) as dirty or it is not a KG subject anymore. It was time for somebody to embrace this evolution...," he said.
Recently, Ranveer also made an entry on Facebook.
"Facebook has amazing reach, potential and power to stay connected with fans. It is amazing to be there on social networking site as one can voice their opinion. I get lot of messages on twitter, fortunately 90 per cent of them are positive but I block the people who say negative things. I don't want to hear that, I don't want negativity in my life," Ranveer added.
Mumbai: Bollywood diva Rekha says in her four-decade-long career she has never asked for roles from directors and producers.
Rekha, 59, ruled Bollywood in the ’70s and ’80s with her power packed performances in films like ‘Mr Natwarlal’, ‘Umrao Jaan’ ‘Silsila’ and ‘Khoobsurat’.
The actress was present at filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International Institute to attend its ‘Celebrate Cinema’ festival.
“I have never asked anyone for an assignment; never asked a producer or a director for a role,” Rekha told students while attending the festival with Subhash Ghai.
Rekha was last seen in ‘Krrish 3′. The two-day film extravaganza also saw other celebs like Vidya Balan, Terrence Lewis, Mohit Chauhan, Govind Nihalani, Hansal Mehta, Diviya Dutta, Neeta Lulla, Alka Yagnik among others gracing the event.
While Bollywood actors have clearly dominated the trend of being just friends or at least claiming to be so, the youth of India especially the not-so-fairer sex seems to have gotten stuck in this zone.
Of the different stages of a relationship, Indian men often find themselves either in the bhai zone or the shaadi zone or in the most dangerous zone of all, the friend zone.
To capture the irony of this notorious zone, Culture Machine and Being Indian have created a droll video titled Mumbai on the friend zone. The guys from Culture Machine and Being Indian went around the city of Mumbai and asked the janata about what they think is the friend zone and whether there's a way a guy can get out of it.
While the younger generation has started to easily switch in between the boyfriend to friend zone and vice versa, there are still many who are stuck being just friends.
To solve this mystery Being Indian decided to quiz people with questions such as: have friend zones increased or decreased?; are relationships a game?; and how to really friend zone someone, amongst other questions.
Hyderabad: When Kajal Aggarwal recently uploaded a midriff-baring photograph of hers on her Facebook page, many of the comments were disturbing. While the snap got more than 2.5 lakh likes, the comments ranged from the mundane “rocking” to the shocking “What is the instrument in the triangle????”, “This is what we call The Bermuda Triangle” and “Watz that mess... belly delly”.
When it comes to celeb trolling, Kajal is not alone. Tamannaah, in fact, is known as the “Navel Queen Tamanna Bhatia” by many of her fans, who have made a Facebook page with the same name. Whereas another photograph had the fan commenting, “looking like a waiter in a B-grade hotel”.
Ileana recently had to take off a comment on a photo of hers wearing kitten socks on which she had written, “I’ve got kittens on my socks today”.
The lewd comments that followed ensured that she removed the picture post haste. Another of Ileana’s picture was termed “too hot and disturbing”. Samantha, meanwhile, was subjected to a hate attack when a fan randomly commented: “Why u not die demon b***h? (sic)”
If this had happened to any one of us, we would have got angry, reported abuse and perhaps even filed a complaint of cyber bullying. But celebrities either ignore the comments or quietly remove them to avoid a fuss.
“The best thing to do, personally, is to ignore such comments. I am usually flabbergasted when fans comment that way and as to what were they really thinking,” says actress Nisha Aggarwal adding, “It’s never just one person writing weird or disgusting things, and you can’t file a complaint against an army of them.”
Nisha also adds that actors do keep a track of their respective accounts and delete comments that are inappropriate. “I check 70 per cent of the comments, but I do also have a team that keeps moderating such embarrassing contents.”
Actress Adah Sharma, too feels that you can’t react to each and every comment. “If you start replying or moderating each and every comment then you’ll be in front of the computer forever,” she says. “As an actor, you do receive the adulation and on the flipside, you have this. Fans had posted random pornographic images on my page, which I had no clue about in the beginning.”
Angry Abhishek Bachchan today took to Twitter to refute the rumours doing rounds about him and his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan heading towards a divorce. The actor mocked the speculators on social media for spreading such false reports and said that he is thankful to them for letting him know that his marriage is about to end. Bachchan wrote:
Ok…. So I believe I’m getting divorced. Thanks for letting me know! Will you let me know when I’m getting re-married too? Thanks. #muppets — Abhishek Bachchan (@juniorbachchan) May 16, 2014
While this is the first time that rumours of Abhishek-Aishwarya divorce surfaced, last year several media reports had claimed that not all is well between Aishwarya and her mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan.
According to an Indian Express report last year, the actress was miffed with her mother-in-law for interfering in her personal matters and was planning to leave the Bachchan residence along with husband Abhishek and her daughter Aaradhya. Jaya reportedly coaxed Aishwarya to update her constantly on the status of her professional ventures which she was unwilling to do.
However, she never really ended up leaving the Bachchan residence and still lives with her in-laws. And it also seems that the divorce reports also have very little truth in them as Abhishek is all set to join his wife and daughter at the Cannes very soon.

Religious leaders of the country have strongly condemned Geo TV for hurting the sentiments of Muslims by after they aired a video of popular actress Veena Malik, featuring rituals performed to ‘Ali ke Saath hai Zahra ki Shaadi’, which is a traditional song about the wedding of Prophet Mohammad’s daughter.

The communities called on the Pakistani government to take Geo TV off the air, arguing that the manner in which the song was depicted was forbidden.
Even after the channel and the show’s host has apologised, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) issued a notice to the channel, seeking an immediate explanation as to why the content was aired.

"It is Sonakshi's debut in the south and we all are quite fascinated, including Rajinikanth sir, with how she has adapted to the southern movie so quickly," said a source close to the production team.

The Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High court has issued notices to Bollywod actors Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Manoj Bajpai, for violating the State Excise Act, and promoting liquor brand in the state.
They have been given a months time to file their reply on a petition that accused them of promoting different brands of liquor under the pretext of selling soda.
The single judge bench of Justice D K Paliwal, while hearing a miscellaneous criminal application, in the notice, asked the Bollywood stars, why a FIR should not be lodged against them under the Excise Act. The court also issued similar notices to the manufactures of popular liquor brands like Haywards and Bagpiper.
The petitioner, Ashok Singh Bhadoria, a resident of Kunj vihar colony, Gwalior, in the petition, stated that promotion of liquor is prohibited under section 23-A of the State Excise Act.
“The Bollywood stars have been made a party because they are promoting liquor despite knowing it’s illegal. Even under the Cable TV Rule 1994 Rule 7, the promotion of liquor is not allowed in televisions. Despite these laws, the liquor manufacturing companies are openly advertising liquor products by advertising soda products, whose name is similar to their liquor brand,” said Bhadoria.
According to him, he was forced to file a miscellaneous criminal application after the district police failed to submit its report on a similar Public interest litigation which was filed 6 months ago. In it, the Gwalior High Court had asked the police to submit its finding on whether companies were advertising their liquor brands under the garb of selling soda.
“After that order, the Inderganj police station lodged a complaint, and its inquiry had found that the liquor manufacturing companies were using hoardings to promote their liquor brand by advertising similar sounding soda brands. Despite that, the police did not take any action, due to which, I filed the criminal case,” Bhadoria added.

Bachchan bahu Aishwarya Rai's big Bollywood comeback - after almost three years because of baby Aaradhya - has been a matter of much speculation. A recent development brings us closer to the 'reel' deal.
If reports are to be believed, Aishwarya may have said yes to Mani Ratnam's next. And this bit of info was let out by none other than Mani Ratnam's wife Suhasini in an interview to a south Indian channel.
She further went on to add that the film's greatly inspired by the action-oacked Hollywood flicks Mission Impossible and The Bourne Identity. In other words, it's an espionage-thriller starring Aishwarya Rai in the lead alongside Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu.
Adding to the cast would be actor Shruti Haasan, and another Pakistani actress. And where there's Ratnam, there's A R Rahman, the music genius who'll be responsible for the film's music, reports add.
It has also been heard that Ash is also trying to make up her mind about renowned ad man Prahlad Kakkar's debut film. Here she may star with hubby Abhishek Bachchan, claim reports.

It was Afghan girl Shakila Zareen’s dream to meet Bollywood superstar Salman Khan someday. After all, she loves him!
In India to reconstruct a once-beautiful face left badly-disfigured by a gun-toting, cruel husband, Shakila met her heartthrob today in Mumbai.
And imagine her joy when Salman Khan confided that his ancestors too fled Afghanistan six generations ago for the very same reason she is in India — lawlessness. “And it’s still the same. They follow Islam, they say. But they don’t follow any religion. All they believe is in dominating women, unlike Islam which talks so much about woman power and their rights,” Salman Khan gently told Shakila, after hearing her desperate story of abuse that hopefully will find answers here.
And, in this case, Deccan Chronicle was only too happy to be the dream merchant! With loads of help, of course, from actor Salman Khan’s father, the very dear Salim Khan.
We flew her down to Mumbai from Delhi where she is being treated by doctors at the Apollo Hospital.
Mumbai: Lauding the number and nature of women-centric films in the country, Katrina Kaif however laments that there is no change in the remuneration for them in Bollywood ever since she joined the industry in 2003.
"Since the time I entered the industry, the growth (of women-centric movies in Bollywood) has been phenomenal. The kind of roles being written is great...Kangana Ranaut has done queen, Vidya Balan did 'Kahaani'...now it has more layers. Our cinema has come a long way.
"But one thing which has not changed is the remuneration for women. There is still a huge disparity. Let's see what happens with that," she added.
Earlier, Kangana and Kareena Kapoor have been vocal about the financial compensation of actresses in tinsel town.
